The Advantages Of Plagiarism

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Okay we all know that plagiarism, the utterly reprehensible act of using the thoughts of another, reaping the rewards of that use, and then, not even providing the source of the info, is an official bad thing. But, let us look at it from the point of view of the plagiarist.

Here are some of the advantages of a career as a plagiarist:

Energy savings – ‘copy and paste’ uses far fewer resources than does thinking your own way around any subject. Any fool can see that.

  • Time savings – quite obviously, time not spent doing your own research and your own thinking, can be spent in other, more worthwhile pursuits. Finding other people to steal from, for instance.
  • Esteem of colleagues – what writer could help but admire a person who can meet the assignment deadlines with efficiency and dispatch while being abreast with the latest Page 3 doings. What could be hipper?
  • Professional friends – the long-term plagiarist is guaranteed, (thanks to CopyScape), to make close acquaintanceship with any number of lawyers and other such bottom feeders. Perhaps even get to hang out with them at their clubs and stuff.
  • Evolution – the plagiarist will, after all, be teaching his/her children that it is perfectly acceptable to misuse the property of another, especially if you can do it without having to go through pesky details such as permission. Surely the advantages to the body politic of that child’s adulthood, is self-evident.

There are, of course, many other advantages, but mention of them would simply be an unnecessary exercise in dealing with the bright shining justifications of the plagiarist.

However, we feel our charity slipping when we consider the concept of honor and honorable behavior. We hold this truth that honor is the lubricant that allows for a civil society. We further hold that plagiarism is a dishonorable act.

Profiting yourself at the expense of others is, and has been, an anti-social act and is, in its essence, viewed as stealing. The fact that it is a thought that is being stolen (as opposed to an object) cannot be offered as an excuse. An object, after all, is no more, nor less, than an original thought. The same can be said for the recorded thought, whatever the form of the recording. It doesn’t matter if that recorded thought may have been lying around for years unread until the plagiarists came along. The fact of an original author must be acknowledged. Most certainly, if that recorded thought is used, recompense must be made.

Having heard the justifications of the plagiarist and weighed against our concepts of civil society, it is our judgment that all convicted plagiarists should be made to listen to the troubles of the original author.

How to Choose the Right Words For More Colorful Writing

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

Putting together sentences and paragraphs is one thing. Knowing which words help you craft more colorful lines and stronger arguments is a whole other skill. Sometimes, your English writing software can help you make that choice; mostly, though, you will have to choose your own words thoughtfully.

There are many ways to choose the right words for the job. The one guideline you should always keep in mind, though, is to recognize general language and replace them with more specific words. While it’s not probably not a good idea to do this for every instance, using specific terms in majority of your piece should lead to both a clearer and livelier writing style.

Specific verbs. You’ve probably learned about passive verbs already. Focusing on “being” rather than “doing,” they lack the action that can potentially make your constructions sound more vibrant. As always, look towards choosing active verbs, instead of passive if you’d like your sentences to sound clearer and more alive.

Apart from these, look for ways you can make your use of verbs more specific. Instead of saying a teacher “taught a class,” for instance, you can say the same person “discussed the principles behind 80s-era Russia’s foreign policies.”

Specific adjectives and adverbs. Probabilistic adjectives, ones whose actual meanings denote several specific possibilities, are the biggest transgressors here. Descriptors such as “many,” “common” and “possible” are examples of these general modifiers, all of which can actually cause more confusion than clarity, which is what adjectives and adverbs are supposed to do in the first place.

Specific nouns. Many writers who watch out for the general use of verbs and modifiers do tend to overlook the same problem with their use of nouns. This happens frequently, especially when referring to groups of people or things. Avoid using vague nouns like “someone” and “persons,” as well as pronouns like “this,” “that” and “they.”

An Introduction To Projectors

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

A projector is an apparatus for presenting an enlarged image on a screen from a transparency such as a photographic slide or a film. In a motion picture projector, each frame is held stationary at an illuminated aperture for a brief period, and then advanced by an intermittent sprocket or reciprocating claw, the light being cut off by a rotating shutter during the movement. The soundtrack on the film is reproduced at a separate sound head where the film is moved continuously at a constant speed.

An average projector usually has a picture resolution of 800 x 600 pixels. Most of the projectors weigh four to six pounds and come with a carrying case. All of the projectors have varied brightness and contrast levels – usually the brightness varies from 1300 lumens to 1500 lumens. A projector with a brightness of 1400 lumens proves to be a good choice for small to medium-sized, well-lit rooms.

Some of the indispensable parts of a projector are the feed spool, xenon arc lamp, projection lens, optical sound head, take up spool, an aperture, normal lens and rotating shutter. But with the advancement of science, new technologies have come into play. The projectors have become much more advanced in terms of clarity of picture and quality of the pixels. Also, the projectors have found use in everyday households, as new versions of domestic projectors have arrived on the market. The abundance of LCD projectors, DLP projectors and video projectors has enabled the common man to enjoy the experience of a big theater hall in his living room.

The Origins of Restricting Food and Liquids During Labor

Kostenlose Immobilienbewertung

The restriction of food and liquids for laboring women was first implemented more than a half-century ago when women often gave birth under general anesthesia. Since vomiting while under general anesthesia can result in the aspiration of the stomach contents into the lungs, leading to serious breathing difficulties and even death, the medical practice of the time was to reduce the risk of aspiration by drastically limiting a woman’s intake during, often allowing only ice chips or sucking on a wet wash cloth to relieve oral dryness. However, the majority of women are no longer delivered under general anesthesia. And, for those women who do require the services of an anesthesiologist, the techniques surrounding the delivery of anesthesia have improved to the point that aspiration is rarely an issue even during a caesarian delivery. Still, the tradition of restricting food and liquids during labor and delivery remains.

Most frequently, whether or not a woman is encouraged, or even permitted, to eat and drink during labor is at the discretion of her health care team. And it is that team’s association and knowledge of labor practices that often determines their viewpoint regarding restricting or permitting a laboring woman to eat and drink. There are two predominating schools of thought; namely, those who believe that nourishment during labor is essential for the sustained health of the labor mother and child, and those who assert that eating and drinking during labor can lead to surgical complications. Currently, The American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommend that only clear liquids be given to women during labor. They further recommend that this practice be limited to low-risk women. Interestingly, the restriction of this policy to laboring mothers thought to be low-risk may be one reason why high-risk women are subject to medical intervention. Midwives frequently recommend that laboring mothers be encouraged to eat light snacks and liquids to ensure that they maintain their energy during long labors. The Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada believes that a woman should be permitted a light diet during labor, and other respected sources believe that, as long as the foods and liquids consumed during labor are light and are not likely to cause nausea, such as heavy foods and juices, they should be not only permitted, but offered.

Permitting a laboring mother to consume light snacks and liquids has been shown to provide several physiological and psychological benefits for women. Several studies remind us that “glucose is the principal source of energy for the fetus and is diffused rapidly across the placenta.” The metabolism of glucose during pregnancy occurs at nearly twice the normal rate because of the demands of the fetus. With this in mind, it makes practical sense to encourage laboring women to maintain these levels by eating and drinking small amounts nutritious foods and liquids. Ketosis also becomes evident in pregnant women after only short periods of fasting and has been indicated as a factor in prolonged labor. It has also been suggested that allowing women to eat and drink during labor has positive psychological effects by allowing them to retain a feeling of control over the process and increased moral during labor. With this in mind, it may be likely that encouraging women to eat and drink while in labor may present more benefits than drawbacks.
